Ortec Akü was set up in Gaziantep, southern Turkey, in 1980. It started with a single battery model, expanded to 25 within its first year, and had grown its catalogue to 35 models by 2021.

The factory specializes in maintenance-free sealed batteries for UPS systems, alarm and security equipment, telecom devices, mobility vehicles for people with disabilities, electric and petrol motorcycles, and solar power.
