Vehicle inspection at TÜVTÜRK centers is a mandatory check for every registered vehicle in Turkey to ensure its safety and roadworthiness. Failing to complete the inspection on time may lead to traffic fines and a monthly surcharge on the inspection fee. Turkish traffic laws determine the periodic inspection schedule according to the type of vehicle, as follows:
First inspection 3 years after the initial registration date.
Thereafter, inspection is required every 2 years.
Examples include minibus, van, pickup, taxi, and some company cars.
First inspection 1 year after registration.
Thereafter, inspection is required annually.
These vehicles are subject to annual inspection after the first year of operation.
First inspection 3 years after registration.
Thereafter, inspection is required every 3 years.

Inspection fees were updated as of January 1, 2026, and all prices include VAT (KDV):
Motorcycle or tractor: 1,674 TL
Private cars and light vehicles (otomobil, minibus, pickup, SUV): 3,288 TL
Buses, trucks, and heavy vehicles: 4,446 TL
Exhaust emission test (Egzoz Emisyon Ölçümü): 460 TL extra, if completed at the center

You will usually be asked to provide the following details:
License plate number (Plaka No)
Vehicle registration serial and number (Ruhsat Seri ve No)
Province (Şehir)
Inspection station (İstasyon)
Mobile phone number
Email address, preferably for confirmation
Select "Periyodik Muayene" (periodic inspection)
Choose a suitable day and time
Confirm the booking
You will receive an SMS with the appointment details
Before going to the appointment, make sure all financial and administrative obligations related to the vehicle have been settled:
Pay all outstanding traffic fines registered on the vehicle
Pay annual motor vehicle tax (MTV), if due
Settle any bridge or highway toll violations (HGS/OGS)
Make sure mandatory traffic insurance (Zorunlu Trafik Sigortası) is valid for driving
The insurance document itself is no longer required for the inspection process since 2024, but the insurance remains compulsory for driving on Turkish roads.
If there are unpaid fines or taxes, the inspection may be refused until they are settled.
The following documents should be brought:
Original vehicle registration document (Ruhsat / Trafik Tescil Belgesi)
A valid ID, such as:
Turkish ID card (TC Kimlik)
Residence permit (İkamet)
Passport
Driving license
The following additional documents are required:
Gas installation report (Montaj Tespit Raporu)
Gas leak-proof report (Gaz Sızdırmazlık Raporu) from an authorized center
Exhaust emission report (Egzoz Emisyon Ölçüm Raporu), if the test was not done at the station
If you are the registered owner:
Bring your residence permit (İkamet) or passport
Bring the vehicle registration document
If someone else brings the vehicle on your behalf:
A notarized power of attorney (Vekalet) or written authorization is recommended

These vehicles are subject to customs and temporary import rules
Relevant authorities should be consulted regarding obligations and required checks
Any unpaid traffic fines or road tolls may prevent the vehicle from leaving the country
After check-in, the vehicle goes through a number of technical inspections, which usually include:

Turn signals and brake lights
Windshield and wipers
Mirrors and horn
Tires, including:
General condition
Tread depth
Cracks
Correct sizes
Seat belts and seats
Brakes
Steering system
Suspension

A monthly late penalty of 5% of the base inspection fee is applied for each month of delay
